Our Services

We understand the special role your pet plays in your family and are dedicated to becoming your partner in your pet's health care.  We treat your pet as we would our own.  Our goal is to practice the highest quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education.  Our entire healthcare team is committed to providing personal attention to meet the unique concerns of each individual pet owner.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Tri-City Animal & Bird Clinic is a full service hospital offering the latest in diagnostic and therapeutic technology.

Surgical Services:  Our surgical room is equipped to perform a wide variety of soft tissue, orthopedic and dental procedures.

Anesthesia:  Our use of sevoflurane and isoflurane, state-of-the-art gas anesthetics, minimizes the risk of anesthesia in all patients but especially in birds, newborns, older animals, or sick pets.  Anesthetic risk is further minimized by use of a pulse oximeter to monitor patient pulse rate and blood oxygen saturation during anesthesia.

Radiology Services:  Our X-ray unit produces detailed radiographs of patients as small as parakeets to patients as large as Great Danes.  These detailed, high quality radiographs aid in the diagnosis of many disorders.

Blood pressure monitoring: Our clinic is also equipped with a blood pressure monitor to evaluate patients with cardiovascular and kidney disease as well as other causes of high blood pressure.

Avian Medicine and Surgery: Avian medicine differs from small animal medicine in disease recognition, laboratory testing, restraint, therapeutic techniques, surgery and anesthesia; hence, the expertise of the doctors and staff and type of equipment used are critical.  Our doctors are experienced in avian medicne and surgery and our staff is specifically trained to handle birds.

Small Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery:  From rabbits to reptiles, our exotic patients require different care and treatment than our dogs and cats.  Our staff and doctors have received special training to deal with the special needs of a wide variety of exotic pets.

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide EKG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and enamel sealants.

Laboratory: Tri-City Animal & Bird Clinic is equipped with the latest in on-site veterinary laboratory equipment.  This equipment gives us immediate results on a variety of blood tests plus the testing can be performed right in our office 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Rapid results mean we can make a diagnosis faster and start the appropriate treatment sooner.  Furthermore, our blood analyzers require only a small quantity of blood to be taken from our patients.  This small sample size minimizes the risk to our patients and allows us to test pets less than one pound in weight.  For more extensive testing or for tests that are not commonly performed, our samples are sent to various outside veterinary labs that specialize in the testing being requested or the species of animals being tested.

Permanent identification: For your pet's safety, we provide microchipping as a method of permanent identification for dogs, cats and birds.

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet.    We can also mail your prescription refills if desired.  Every time we dispense a medication to your pet, we review your pet's medical record to ensure that it is the correct medication for your pet and that no drug interactions or other contraindications exist.  We also make sure that any needed health monitoring is up-to-date to ensure that the requested medication is safe for your pet.

Individualized Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard, and on your pet.

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance. Prescription diets can help pets with a wide range of medical issues from dental and kidney disease to allergies and weight issues.  Many serious medical issues can be successfully managed through diet change.  We carry a comprehensive range of prescription diets.

Behavioral Counseling:  Most pet's problems, such as jumping, barking, biting, and house soiling, are correctable with a proper understanding of animal behavior and training techniques.  Our clinic works closely with animal behaviorist, Dorene Olson, who is available for consultation about your pet's problems.

Emergency Care and Consultation:  Although our clinic does not have staff here after regular work hours, our doctors are available to discuss your questions and direct you to the appropriate overnight emergency clinic located clostest to your home.
